Hey Ashley,

Amanda sent me a link to your blog. I have enjoyed reading it. It makes me remember when my children were very young. I had the same problem with one of mine, I didn't find a solution until she was three. So, here's a suggestion. Take Liddy on a special shopping trip. Tell her she's not a baby any more and you are taking her to buy some very nice grown up underwear. Allow her to pick them out. Stress the point that they are more grown up than the ones she's been wearing. Tell her that #2 in these would me unheard of. Pack up all the others and pretend to be giving them away to a younger child who might need panties for babies. Don't make a big issue out of doing #2 on the potty. Just leave wipes, paper etc within her reach. Tell her she's a big now and can do it by herself and make sure you tell her to wash her hands after. I asked the dr back when mine was having trouble... he says it is a control thing. She won't give it up until she thinks it's her idea. I'm certainly glad I only had one with control issues...

Your family is beautiful.. the visit has been fun. Good luck with the new one. ps.. Monica didn't get named until she was 8 days old...

Love ya,
Mrs. Campbell

Here is what I did with Whitney... I bought her the game "Hungry Hungry Hippos" (on sale!) and wrapped it and put it on top of the fridge. We talked about that present 100 times a day and I told her that when she went #2 on the potty that she would get the present. I wasn't outwardly angry if she had an accident, I would just say that we'd try again next time so that she could open her present. When she finally went, we all cheered and danced and she opened her present. Then after we had tons o fun playing the game, it went back on top of the fridge. If she did go #2, we dropped everything to play (for the first few weeks). Eventually, she got the hang of it.

Love you!
