Time is flying! I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve blogged! We’ve had a lot of goings-on here at the Guercio house so get comfy…
My blogging last ended about the time Ben’s mom, Miss Gayle, came to save me from the life I created for myself…a life of diapers, no sleep, two stir crazy preschoolers, and a somewhat absent husband who is a full-time grad student. (Can anybody out there tell me what the heck I was thinking?!) Anyway, she truly swooped in and saved us. We were soooooo pampered! Gourmet meals every night, kids wisked off to the park and fun places by day! (After she was gone I kept feeling like the house was so cluttered and messy and it was bugging me. I couldn’t figure out why there was stuff everywhere. And then it hit me…my house wasn’t staying magically clean for the past two weeks…Gayle had been working hard!) I did not know what to do with myself so I basically did nothing! I slept in, ran errands with only 1 kid, and just relaxed! Holy cow life was good. Mr Frank came in time for the baby blessing and then we all went on a little getaway to Pittsburgh. It was so fun. I’m just going to post a bunch of pictures since my brain stopped working a few days after they left (combination sleep deprivation/sensory overload).
Grant started really smiling at about 5 weeks. Here are some pics!
Grant received a name and a blessing
We went to Pittsburgh …
On the way there Ethan and Liddy rode with Grandma and Grandpa so Ben and I did not know what to do with ourselves…Ben got creative with the Starburst…we drove by Frank and Gayle and this is what they saw…
Can you see the tears streaming down my face?! I was laughing so hard!
As soon as we got to the hotel, or botel as Liddy would say, Liddy got a snack and sat down at her desk to do some business…work, work, work! even on vacation!
Ethan checked out the view…
We did lots of fun stuff:
When we returned home Ethan and Liddy started preschool together. They had no trouble. We walked into the classrooms and Ethan ran off and immediately found dinosaurs while Liddy picked up a baby doll, put in a carraige and began pushing it around the room. Not even a goodbye or see ya later. I took off to enjoy 2 1/2 hours of freedom! When they got home each had stories to share.
Ethan learned about space and told me a planet turns into a ball and has circles around it’s waist. (I’m guessing he saw a model of a planet with rings?). Liddy told me, “Yeah, one girl is mad at me.” Uh-oh, do I even dare ask? “Why Liddy?” “She wouldn’t share her toys.” “So what did you do?” “We fight.” She then told me that she pulled the girl’s cow and chicken and farm away. When I repeated this story to Ben later, she heard me and then told on herself again. Apparently there was another altercation with a “little girl” who is now mad because Liddy “had the broom first and I wanted to sweep!” Maybe those preschool teachers can teach her a thing or two. They’re “certified” and I’m just exhausted.
First day of preschool
One last note. I have officially entered the last year of my 2o’s. *moment of silence* I was actually kind of sad. It was a good time to reflect on how blessed I am, how full my life is, and also set some new goals. (In my next 30 years…I’m gonna have some fun… Tim McGraw) Ben and I went on a date and he surprised me with an iPOD shuffle! I got so many other gifts and cards and phone calls and e-mails. I even got flowers! (They are gorgeous…I can smell them right now! Thank you Aunt Sue!) Thank you everybody for loving me and caring about me!

Yea! You’re back! Your little family is beautiful! Glad you get some freedom during pre-school. We thought about putting Elodie in school but decided to wait till next year….now if I had 2 and a newborn it would be a different story! Happy to hear you had a great birthday! Happy late one!

Well Happy 29th Ash! I am 30 in less than a month, so I’ll let you know how the transition goes. I love your “teeth” pictures…you guys could be on the “Welcome to Lousiana” billboard.
